A virtual keyboard

That I can use by pointing at it with the Vive controllers, like the one that is available in Steam.

No reason for it not to be usable with a Rift as well, however have the headset control the cursor input for the keyboard. There could even be different text input modes though keyboard would be the default.

Virtual Desktop uses the Windows Touch keyboard which will appear automically when you enter text fields while using motion controllers. You can manually bring it up by right-clicking the task bar and selecting “Show Touch keyboard button” and clicking the keyboard icon in the system tray whenever you need it.
